Arrrrgh -- The Pirates Cove 50K

Dave ran a 50K race in the Marin Headlands, the peninsula just north of the Golden Gate Bridge last Saturday. It was rainy and kind of cold, but he still had fun. The trail was beautiful with ocean views, bay views, mountain views, bridge, and city views.
We had fun by the ocean while he ran. Some of the time we went for a car ride and watched movies out of the rain though. Sarah had her nature camp for school a few weeks back in the same spot as the start of the race. So she had fun showing us where she stayed and hiked.
There were also some surfers who came to the beach for the rough waves that came in with the storm. We had fun watching them wait for the big waves.

Oma's visit

We had a nice week with Oma this past week.  It rained for 5 days straight.  We still enjoyed some nice walks, shopping, eating out, working in the garden, and just being together.   We did have sunshine for the last 2 days so Oma could see what California really is like.

We went on Saturday to the farmers market and got some fresh oranges, nuts and lots of other good stuff.  We also went to a very fun Korean Market that a friend from Daddy's work told him about.  We loved it and got lots of good food.

One of the days we also walked up and around Folsom Lake.  It was really green and the oak trees were just starting to bud out.  Alex, Sarah, and Lily were practicing their trail running in preparation for Daddy's big race on Saturday.

It was a fun week!!!  We will miss Oma but see her soon when we come to Utah this summer.

Sunday Evening Hike to Stumpy

We took a walk recently on a Sunday night and hiked up to a stump on the hill by our house.  The kids loved it.  The grass was turning green an the sun had just started to set.  It made for some lovely pictures.  Enjoy.

Sarah's Trip to Marin Headlands

Sarah went on her first overnight trip without us.  Her class went on a 3 day 2 night field trip to Marin Headlands north of San Fransisco.  She loved every minute of it.  They learned lots of things about the marine life and wildlife in the area.  She went on some fun hikes and played lots of games.  We are glad she has such good friends and teachers and has made a smooth transition to her new school.  We love her a lot and missed her probably more than she missed us.

Daddy is doing a 50k Ultra Train race in a few weeks in the Marin Headlands.  We are excited to go, play on the beach, and have Sarah show us around.  Should be fun.
