Mommy's Birthday

We celebrated Mom's birthday on Sunday.  She got some very nice presents from Daddy and the kids.  She made herself a Lemon Curd cake after Church, that was really good!  We also went for a little hike on the North part of Folsom Lake called Salmon Falls later that evening.  It was the perfect ending to a great day.

Not that the game itself wasn't exciting...

...but the most exciting thing at Alex's Soccer game today was Lily holding a dragonfly by the wings.
Here is a close up. The dragon fly was neon green with an aqua blue tail.

Soccer Seeding Tournaments

Alex and Sarah both had all day soccer tournaments on Saturday.   Mom and Dad had to divide and conquer so they could go to both.

Mom went to Sarah's tournament. Sarah played all of the positions, including goalie.  She blocked 2 goals as goalie and didn't let anyone score.  Then when she was on offense she scored a goal!  It was awesome.  She played really hard in all of her games and was pretty tired by the end of the tournament.

Dad went with Lily to Alex's tournament.  Alex played all of the positions also. He had some really good passes.  He helped get the ball down the field fast and ran really hard the whole time.  He was pretty tired after too.

Lily had her own adventure. One of Daddy's coworkers, who's is the dad of a little boy is on Alex's team, is from Korea and used to catch dragonfly's when he was a kid.  He caught a dragonfly for Lily and she held it by the wings for a long time and had no fear. Mommy's Glasses

I realized there are no pictures of me in the last few posts.  So, to please the masses I took a picture in my new glasses. :)

I just went to the eye doctor.  I had noticed I was getting more headaches when I wore my old glasses, and I needed to wear them more often.  The doctor found an astigmatism in my right eye and changed my prescription.  The new glasses are wonderful.  I can see so much better and no headaches.

They also did some tests because of my family history of Glaucoma and found that I have very high pressure in my eyes. The doctor, to put me at ease, told me that I have nice thick corneas.  So I guess that is good.  But my eyes were not in the normal range, so I do have early Glaucoma. I will have to go to the eye doctor religiously each year to watch it.  I am glad we found it early and can keep it in check. So, moral of this long post, is if you are a blood relative of me: GET YOUR EYES CHECKED FOR GLAUCOMA!

Everyday

Sometimes, we forget to include the random pictures of everyday on our blog.   So I found some pictures on my camera that I thought I ought to include just for fun.

They are (clockwise):  Alex working in his "Homework Spot" with a cute smile, Sarah reading and getting her picture taken by Lily unknowingly, Mommy made a really yummy plum tart this week and it turned out perfect (It tasted just like one her Mom made when she was a kid).  Enjoy.

Daddy's Birthday

We celebrated Dad's birthday this week.  He turned 36!  We had a fun celebration with presents and a delicious carrot cake.  In the evening we had some friends over and cooked a Paella.  We love our Dad a lot.  He works really hard for our family and is a fun guy to be around.

Back to School

Alex and Sarah started back to school this week!  They were both nervous and excited.  Mommy tried not to show it but she was nervous as well. Sarah started Middle School and Alex started 1st grade.

Sarah has lots of friends that she already knows at Middle School this year.  The transition was a lot easier this year than last year.  She and Mommy went on a tour of the school a few days before school started and then Sarah went with her friends to a welcome rally for all of the new 6th grade students.

Alex has a wonderful teacher.  He loves to go to school everyday.  He has some of his friends from last year in his class and has made some new ones to play with.  Mommy asked him what they play at recess and he said they are playing "Ninjas".  Then he showed Mom some of his Ninja moves.  Pretty impressive.  :)
