Alex turns 10!

Double digits!  Wahoo!  Alex turned 10.  We sure love our boy.  He is a creative, handsome, helpful, and funny boy.   He wanted a basketball hoop for his room, LEGO's, and a red chair for his room.  Happy Birthday, Alex.  We love you lots.

Trip to Utah: Park City, Salt Lake City, and Provo

After the race on Saturday we drove up to Park City where we rented a condo for the week.  It worked out as a nice home base to drive to visit family and see the sights between Salt Lake and Provo.

We enjoyed a nice dinner on Sunday night at Oma and Grandpa Bill's house with all of the Bodells.  Afterward we took some pictures and visited.

Monday we dropped Sarah off at XC camp at BYU and then met the Bodell's to hike to Timpanogos cave.  It was fun to see the inside of the cave and be with family afterwards we all went to dinner at Sweet Tomatoes.  Mom's favorite place!

One of the days Oma and Grandpa took us to Thanksgiving point.  We went to the garden's and all of the museums. It was so fun!  The kids loved it.

One of the mornings we picked up Mom's Aunt Peg, who lives in Park City, and drove to the Olympic Park Museum. She was an awesome tour guide.  It was really cool to see all of the Olympic memorabilia and watch people jump off the ski jumps.

On the morning before we picked up Sarah from XC camp at BYU we drove up Gardsman's Pass and hiked to a little lake at the summit.  The views were beautiful.

The last night of our trip we had a fun party at the Romney's house.  Aunt Keri and Oma put on a fun party with a bounce house that the grandchildren loved.  It was fun to watch them play together and by the end of the party Alex was calling each other by name, not just "dude".  :)

What a fun trip!

Trip to Utah: Bryce Canyon

We drove out to Utah for a trip to visit family. We took the scenic route across Nevada on route 50 “The Loneliest Road in America”.  It was the fastest route to Panguitch, Utah from our house in California.  The drive out wasn't as bad as it sounds.  Mom thought it actually was a little more scenic than the I-80 route.  We also listened to Rohl Dahl Audio books along the way, so time seemed to go by faster.

On the first day we went to the scenic outlooks Sunrise and Sunset Points with our cousins and then afterwards we hiked to a waterfall in a canyon in the north part of Bryce Canyon.

Starting our hike to the waterfall.

 Lily loved the "windows".

On the second day, Dad started his race with Uncle Alan, so mom and the kids got up early and started our hike into the valley.  They kids really wanted to hike down into the hoodoo's and explore! It was a very pretty hike with a light breeze. Being down in the valley and exploring was one of our favorite parts of this trip.  It was amazing to look up at such beautiful creations.  We took our time and enjoyed all of the pretty sights.  We took the Wall Street trail down into the valley and then Queens Garden route out.
