Alex's Birthday Celebrations

Alex turned 6!  For his birthday celebrations the kids slept out in our backyard in the tent.  Daddy set it up to clean it out from our last camping trip and the kids wanted to sleep outside.  They went to bed good and stayed out all night.  Sarah came in early in the morning because she was cold but Alex and Lily made it through all night.  We didn't even hear any giggling or loud talking they just went right to bed.

The next day was Alex's birthday.  Uncle Mark and Aunt EJ came to spend the weekend with us.  We had a party with lots of presents and an "Orange Clone Trooper" cake that Alex requested.  Mom was happy it turned out recognizable.
Alex got lots of nice presents from Grandparents and family.  He was a happy kid.  He had been asking for months when his birthday would be.  It is hard to wait when you are 6.

In the afternoon we drove up to the lake.  On our drive, Uncle Mark took this picture of the birthday boy.  Shirt on backwards and sound asleep.  We all thought it was really funny.
The weather was perfect and we all enjoyed playing in the water and enjoying the sunshine.
Alex and Aunt EJ made a sand castle.
Uncle Mark made a mud spa.
 The finished sandcastle with drawbridge.
Uncle Mark and Sarah stuck in their mud spa.

After dinner we drove up to the finish line of the Western States 100 race.  Daddy is thinking of running it someday.  It was amazing to see the runners come across the finish line after running 100 miles on trails through the mountains.
We got to meet Gordy Ainsley, the first runner of the Western States 100. He founded the Western States endurance run. In 1974  he did the race for the first time on foot instead of on a horse.  He has run it almost every year since then.
A great way to end a very fun weekend!

Folsom Lake

We went kayaking and fishing at  Folsom Lake with some friends this past week.  Everyone enjoyed playing in the water.  We each got turns on the Kayaks.  It was a little windy, but not too hot.  The lake was beautiful.  We are really grateful to live in such a pretty place with fun things to do. We had a great time with our friends and then went and got some good Mexican food and headed home. Everyone was sandy and tired. All of the kids slept really good that night.

Oakland A's

We went to an Oakland A's game with Uncle Mark and Aunt EJ.  EJ's brother was in San Fransisco on business, so he met us at the park also.  It was a fun night with the family.  Alex told us he want's to be an "A" when he grows up.  He was really enjoying it.

At the start of the game.

Popcorn in a hat.  Yummy.  We had lots of good treats.
