Mommy's Trip to Luxembourg: Part 4

After seeing France we drove back up to a hotel along the Sauer River in Bourscheid.  You could see the Bourscheid castle from our hotel.  It was very peaceful and beautiful.

Mom and Oma visited Opa a few more times and Mom would go for some pretty walks along the countryside while Oma was helping her Dad.  She was able to take some nice pictures.

Luxembourg is one of the prettiest places.  Mommy kept thinking about what a great view the cows there had.  They had no idea what a great life they had with all of that green grass.  In California the cows are much skinnier and the grass is all dry and brown this time of year.

 The road to Opa's House.
The Church in Kalborn the town where Mom's Opa lives.

One night mom and Oma found a really good German Restaurant. Mom ate a giant Wiener Schnitzel with red cabbage.  It was soooooo good!!

The next day Oma and Mom drove to Vianden.  There is a very beautiful town and castle there.  Mom's Aunt Alice works in a hotel there.

First we saw the castle and walked around the town.

The inside of the castle was just as neat as the outside.

After touring the castle we met up with Alice at the hotel she works at.  While we were there my Uncle Peter came and we visited with him for a while too.
 Peti, Alice, and Oma

That night we went to dinner at my Uncle Klause's house and had yummy homemade pizza. Mommy also met her Aunt Petra and Cousin Stephen for the first time.

Our second to last day we visited the Luxembourg/American Cemetery in Luxembourg City.  It was amazing to think about all of the lives given so freely to protect both of our countries freedom's.  The Luxembourg people are very grateful for America coming to help them preserve their freedom during World War II. They donated the land right after the war to America and said that it would never be taxed or taken from them.

General Patton's grave is also at this cemetery. He died after the war while in Germany and was brought back to the Luxembourg cemetery to be buried.  It is moving that he is buried in front of all of his troops.

The cemetery was very beautiful and a nice way to end our trip.

Mommy is very grateful to have been able to go on this trip with Oma.  She learned so much and was able to finally see people and places she had only dreamed about before.

When mom looked out her window on the flight home and saw Lake Tahoe it was a pretty amazing sight.  She  knew she was going to be home soon and couldn't wait to see her kids and Dave.
We live in a pretty amazing place too.
