Sarah is now a Teenager!

Sarah turned 13 this week!  We had a fun Tie Dye Party with her friends.  They dyed shirts, played games, and then ate cake!  It was a fun night.

The next morning after she got back from running club (she ran 6 miles!) we celebrated her birthday as a family.  She opened the big box from Oma and Grandpa Bill and was excited about the Hobbit Lego set.  She has read The Hobbit and finished all of the Lord of the Rings books last month.
Alex and Lily had a really hard time keeping their paws off of it. :)

She has been playing catch with Dad a lot and so he bought her a left handed mit.  She had fun opening her presents from the family.

That night we had Cheesecake with Lemon Curd for her cake.  She picked it out with Mom at Trader Joes.  We sure love our Sarah Grace.  She is such a wonderful daughter.  Happy Birthday, Queen Bee!

Spring Break

We had a wonderful Spring Break this year!  We went camping at Steep Ravine Environmental Campground in Mt. Tam State Park.  It was so beautiful!!!!!!  We really loved it.  Our campsite was on a butte that looked out over the ocean. We could see the ocean and hear the ocean in our tent! It was awesome.

On the first day we explored the beaches around our campground and set up camp.  Then cooked hot dogs and roasted peeps around the campfire.

The next morning Alex, Mommy, and Sarah hiked up Steep Ravine trail (Daddy had already run it on his morning run and told us where to go) and crossed over to Dipsea trail and hiked to Stintson Beach where we med Daddy and Lily on the Beach.  It was one of the most beautiful hikes Mom has ever been on.  First we hiked about a mile and a half up the up out of our campground and then continued on the Steep Ravine Trail.  We hiked through beautiful Redwoods and ferns with sprinklings of Forget Me Nots all along the trail.  Once we met up with the Dipsea Trail we followed down to the Beach.  The views from this part of the trail were pretty spectacular of the hills that went into the Sea.

We played on the beach for a little while and then went back to camp for some lunch.

We took another hike to "Sarah's Beach"  we named it after her because she discovered it with Alex while they were exploring on our first day in the Campground.  We checked out the crabs in the tide pools and picked up a few shells.  There also was a neat cave that Daddy and the kids climbed in.

We drove most of the way and then hiked the last mile to the top of Mt. Tam.  The view was really beautiful at the top.  We could see out 360 degrees.

That night we went back to Stintson Beach and ate dinner at a fun restaurant followed by ice cream cones and playing at the park.  Followed by a campfire at our campground.

The last day we hiked first thing up the Steep Ravine Trail all together.  We think we crossed about 7 bridges.  It was so beautiful.

We turned around at the steep ladder where, Mom and Dad told the kids they could go further when they were older.  We headed back down the trail to camp and then drove to the beach with our swimsuits on for the last day of our trip.  The weather was perfect and we all enjoyed relaxing in the sun.   We cleaned off as much sand as we could and headed home.  We are already trying to plan our next trip there it was so fun.
