2nd trip to Utah for Uncle Stewart's Funeral

Dad's uncle has been sick with ALS for the past year and we knew he wouldn't live much longer.  He passed away at the end of our summer vacation time and we were grateful that the kids were off school and we could travel to Utah for the funeral.  It turned into a wonderful spur of the moment trip.
We spent a couple days with Oma and Grandpa Bill.  We went to the Church History Museum, Shopping at City Creek, and then to the German Bakery.

We went swimming one day with Preston and then went and got shaved ice afterward.

Then we drove down south and stayed in Lehi.  We did some back to school shopping while dad worked at the hotel.  We didn't get any pictures.  Too busy shopping I guess.

The next day was Uncle Stewart's funeral.  It was a very nice service for a good and humble man.  It was nice to see family we haven't seen in a long time and catch up.  This trip for us was a wonderful blessing to be able to spend extra time with both of our families.

Camping at Ice House Reservoir

We went on another fun camping trip this summer to Ice House Reservoir.  Ice House campground is up in the Sierras just before you cross over the summit into Lake Tahoe.  It is a beautiful spot with lots of pretty lakes.  Ice House Reservoir is one of the larger lakes.
Perfect campsite in the tall trees.
Exploring the lake just before sunset.

 Roasting marshmallows around the campfire.
Lily waking up in the tent.
We spent the next day swimming and playing at the lake.  We blew up our little raft and paddled around.  We all had fun climbing up on the rocks and jumping into the deep water.

After we played we drove to Sly Park and got some yummy milkshakes.  What a fun trip!

Beach Camping at Bodega Bay

We went camping for the weekend to Bodega Bay.  It was a foggy afternoon when we arrived.  Which turned into a foggy evening.  When we went to bed after dinner the tent had a lot of condensation on it.  During the night Mom get getting woken up by drips on her forehead about every 15 minutes.  No one else seemed to be effected by it.  Mom was a little tired and wet in the morning.

The next morning the fog cleared, we had a good breakfast, and then headed out on some hikes.  We hiked up around Bodega Head and were able to see some very pretty beaches below.

It was a fun trip.  We always love exploring Northern California.
Lily woke up first on Saturday, so she and Mom went for a walk along the beach together looking for sea shells.

Warming up by the fire.

 Hiking on Bodega Head.

We stopped in Petaluma for lunch. Alex took this panorama picture at the Chinese Restaurant while we were waiting for our food. Fun trip and happy memories!
