The next day was Alex's birthday. Uncle Mark and Aunt EJ came to spend the weekend with us. We had a party with lots of presents and an "Orange Clone Trooper" cake that Alex requested. Mom was happy it turned out recognizable.
Alex got lots of nice presents from Grandparents and family. He was a happy kid. He had been asking for months when his birthday would be. It is hard to wait when you are 6.
In the afternoon we drove up to the lake. On our drive, Uncle Mark took this picture of the birthday boy. Shirt on backwards and sound asleep. We all thought it was really funny.
The weather was perfect and we all enjoyed playing in the water and enjoying the sunshine.
Alex and Aunt EJ made a sand castle.
Uncle Mark made a mud spa.
The finished sandcastle with drawbridge.
Uncle Mark and Sarah stuck in their mud spa.
Sarah and Lily.

After dinner we drove up to the finish line of the Western States 100 race. Daddy is thinking of running it someday. It was amazing to see the runners come across the finish line after running 100 miles on trails through the mountains.
We got to meet Gordy Ainsley, the first runner of the Western States 100. He founded the Western States endurance run. In 1974 he did the race for the first time on foot instead of on a horse. He has run it almost every year since then. A great way to end a very fun weekend!
