Thanksgiving Trip to Utah: Kolob Canyon

We drove on Monday up to Kolob Canyon with Uncle Alan and George.  It was so beautiful!

We first went to an overlook and enjoyed a great view of the canyon.

Next we drove to the Double Arch trail head and hiked up the canyon to an amazing double arch.  It was a very nice hike not too steep with lots of fun river crossings that we had to find a way through.  There was just a little snow on the ground which our kids were very excited about!!

Taking a break under a big boulder.

There were two old cabins we passed that were interesting to look inside.

We finally made it to the Double Arch.

Thanksgiving Trip to Utah: Visiting the Enoch Sandersons

We took  a fun trip over Thanksgiving break to visit cousins and family in Utah.  We drove to Bakersfield first after work on Friday and then continued on to Enoch, Utah on Saturday.  It was nice to break up the drive into two shorter days, rather than one long day.

We arrived to a house full of cousins and the kids immediately had lots of fun.  Alan and Marisa have a beautiful new home.  We had a nice visit including lots of yummy food,  decorating gingerbread cookies, going to Church in Enoch, seeing the construction on the Cedar City Temple, and a beautiful hike in Kolob Canyon.

Sarah's Cross Country

Sarah has been competing in her first year of Cross Country for Vista High School.  Most of her races have been far away, but this past Saturday she had a race here in Folsom.  We all went and watched and cheered her on.  She has made a huge improvement over this past year and is getting pretty fast.  She has made some really good friends with other girls on her team and that has made it a very fun year for her.  She just has one more meet this year and then she will be done for the season.

Trip to Muir Beach

The kids had the day off on Columbus Day so we decided to drive to Muir Beach.  Dad needed to do a run on the trails down there to train for an upcoming race, so we decided to enjoy a day there together.  It turned out to be a perfect day.  Northern California beaches aren't always very warm, but it was in the 80's on the day we went.  Mom wished she would have brought the kids wet suits and boogie board so they could enjoy the water.  The still managed to get wet and sandy, just with their clothes on.  We had a picnic on the beach, flew kites, took naps, explored and played in the water.  It was fun to have a break from school and work and just play together.  After the beach we drove over to Mark and EJ's house.  EJ had to work, but Uncle Mark had made yummy hamburgers and hot dogs for us.  We were all hungry and they tasted really good!
