Tahoe Part 2: When We Weren't Watching the Race

We spent a couple days before the race in South Lake Tahoe and then during the race we also explored the Incline Village area.  We really love Lake Tahoe.  It is so beautiful and fun.  We went swimming on the first day and had a picnic on the beach and then we met Aunt Danya and Maison and went to dinner and then went for a swim again in the evening.  The next day we met aunt Scerinda and her kids at the park and then we went to the beach while Daddy went to a meeting for his race.  We lost Aunt Scerinda for a little while and were worried we might not find her again.  But she was able to drive to the top of a mountain to get cell coverage again and meet us at the beach.  We are really greatful to Aunt Scerinda and Aunt Danya for driving all the way from Salt Lake City, Utah to spend time with us.  We also always love it when Uncle Mark and Aunt EJ come.

 Playing in South Lake Tahoe.

The water was surprisingly warm and clear.  Just a little colder than a pool and crystal clear.

The next day we met Uncle Mark and Aunt EJ and hiked around Spooner Lake.  It was really beautiful.

After that we headed down to Sands Beach.  It was really beautiful.  We watched the storms roll in on the lake.  We made sure to stay out of the water if we saw lightning.

 The clouds were really beautiful.
 Almost a smile from Maison.

Climbing the rocks at Sands Beach.

It was a really fun trip.  The kids loved playing with their cousins and exploring.  We are already thinking about when we can go again!

Alex's Baptism Day

Alex's Baptism day was a very special day for our family.  We had Oma and Grandpa there and also Uncle Mark and Aunt EJ.  Grandpa Bill gave a talk on the Holy Ghost that was really nice and well done.  Aunt EJ and Sarah played a flute/piano musical number that was really beautiful.  Uncle Mark was a witness.  Daddy performed the baptism.

We are all proud of Alex and his choice and preparation to be baptized.  He has a strong testimony for such a little guy.  We love that he is a good example to his friends and family.

After the baptism we came home and Daddy cooked barbecued mussels for us on the grill in the hot heat.  We also cooked other yummy food for the non-mussel lovers.  It was a really nice day.

Beach House with Oma and Grandpa

Oma and Grandpa flew to California from Utah the week before Alex's Baptism.  So we rented a beach house in Bodega Bay for a few day's to get away and relax.  It was wonderful.  Everyone had a fun time.  We went to the beach everyday and on long walks along the ocean. We drove up to the Armstrong Redwoods State Park one day and went for a picnic and walk in the forest of Redwoods.  We also enjoyed watching the World Cup together and playing card games at night.  Oh, and we can't forget eating fish and chips, and clam chowder at a little shack on the coast.  What a fun trip!!!  We love you Oma and Grandpa thanks for coming to California!
