Point Reyes

We had a Saturday free of soccer games, so we decided to take a little family trip.  We drove down to Point Reyes National Seashore.   We went to Drakes Beach and ate lunch and played in the sand.  It was absolutely beautiful and everyone had a good time.

After washing off the sand we drove up to the Lighthouse.  Alex loved seeing the inside of it and how it worked.  At the visitor center we talked with the Ranger about wale watching and he said the best time is at the end of March when the Mother's swim with their calves up the shore.  We will have to come back and see them then.

After the light house we were all tired and so we drove home.  We saw San Fransisco and the Golden Gate bridge on the drive home.  It was a fun family adventure!

Utah Trip

We went over Labor Day weekend to Utah for a quick trip to visit family. The drive was so much better, only 9 hours instead of 20. It felt weird not having to sleep in a hotel and drive another full day. The drive through the Sierra Nevada mountains was beautiful and we also enjoyed the straight shot across Nevada. Mommy was glad we will never have to see a "Wall Drug" sign ever again.

The kids had lots of fun playing with their Bodell cousins. We enjoyed a birthday party at the Romneys. The kids got spoiled with treats and a giant water slide. The parents also got spoiled with the best cake and Sushi ever. Thanks Uncle Clark and Aunt Keri!

We had a very nice visit on Sunday with Great Grandma Sanderson. She treated us to ice cream and the kids drew funny pictures for her. Afterward, Sarah asked if we could go back tomorrow. We all enjoyed listening to her stories and talking.

We wish we had more time to spend with everyone. The weekend went by really fast. Hopefully we will be able to come a little more often once we get moved into our house.

Here are some pictures of our fun weekend:

Our Week

This past week was a very busy.  The kids are getting into the routine of school and making friends.  They both love their teachers and classes.  We have soccer almost every night of the week.  Sarah on Monday/Wednesday and Alex on Tuesday/Thursdays.  It was Mommy's birthday on Friday.  She was spoiled with pancakes for breakfast and presents and cake.  It was a wonderful day.  Sarah had an Soccer tournament on Saturday morning and then we went and looked at more houses in the afternoon.

First Day of School

Alex and Sarah started school today.  Alex started Kindergarten and Sarah started 5th grade.  They both were excited and happy about their new school.  Sarah loved that they didn't have to eat lunch in a dungeon like at Jefferson (no windows) and that they don't have hallways everything is connected by the outdoors.  Alex loved that they had Lego's and Star wars books in his Kindergarten classroom.

They both looked cute this morning right before Alex left to Kindergarten.  Alex is in a special class that is called a slip class. They go earlier than other kids to school and then overlap with another class that comes around 10:00am.  They do it this way so that the class is smaller than normal for part of the day so they can have more one on one time.  He goes to school at 7:54 and then comes home at 11:15.  Sarah goes at the regular time from 8:20 to 2:37.  Daddy takes Alex in the morning and Mommy takes Sarah and then picks them both up.

Alex picked out his Star wars shirt for his first day and Sarah picked out her new outfit also. Alex has another Alex in his class that is a girl, so he goes by Alex Iven.  The teacher spelled Alex's name wrong on his name tag....just like the first Iven became Ivan after is was misspelled.  Pretty funny.  Oh, well.  :)

Busy, Busy, Bees

Soccer season has offically begun here in the Sanderson house.  This year Alex and Sarah are playing.  Alex has been begging to play for  a long time.  He was so happy to get to go to his own soccer practice and run around.  At one point he yelled "I'm really playing soccer".  He was so happy.

We also moved out of the corporate housing and into our apartment with all of our stuff.  Now we have lots of unpacking to do. It feels nice having all of our things again, but Mommy and Daddy have stayed up late unpacking boxes and are very tired.  Here are some pictures of the current state of things.

 The only spacious room!

 This room was clean yesterday!!!
We also went and looked at more houses this week with the kids.  It helped them see that we really will move into a house again.  Apartment living isn't for us.  I am sure we will know when we find the right one and it fits our family.
